Painting Complete

After 2 days of teamwork, great communication, and trial and error, the painting is complete!! Joe and I carefully painted my room and it looks great :-) The only set back we had was when we painted the purple accent wall... we only painted one coat and all the spackling and paint strokes were coming through loud and clear. After my impromptu temper tantrum, Joe painted a second coat on the wall (he's so understanding, haha!). Since we bought low-odor paint were able to set up my room right away, arranging my furniture, bed, and side table. We were even able to sleep in my room that night!

Now all that's left is decorating--- the happy fun part! I HAVE to get blinds/window shades ASAP because I still have my makeshift shower curtain up to block out the light. I have to get extension cords, shelves, picture frames, something to center over my bed, a light fixture, and new covers to go over my light switch. But picking out that stuff is fun, so i'm not worried about it!

Now I can pack for India without any worry or anxiety about my apartment. I'm going to Costco today to get some snacks and supplies. Hopefully I'll be able to get food that'll remind me of The States....

Having Peace of Mind Before I Leave

This weekend I'm learning the importance of having a clean and organized apartment. I'm the kind of person who cannot think clearly or do things unless there is a plan of action, and somewhat organized. I've lived in my apartment for nearly 2 years and I have still yet to make it organized and sane. My room was like a dungeon, and since I had no closet, I turned our spare room into a dumping zone for anything that did not fit into my bedroom. I had furniture that I got from picking trash, nails were coming through my sheet rock so my super spackled over them and I never re-painted. I hated sleeping in my room.

This weekend, 5 days before I leave for India, I promised myself that I would paint my room, organize the 3rd room, and make my apartment a relaxing and organized oasis! I'm so excited because I'm actually DOING instead of mulling over the NOT DOING. I'm so fortunate to have my boyfriend lend me a helping hand with painting, driving me to run errands, and be a voice of encouragement when I was too overwhelmed to keep going. Because of his persistence and support, we can both be comfortable in my home. I'm so happy right now!!
